Snowflake spikes 22% on healthy results and AI coding momentum

Snowflake shares surged 22 percent in extended trading on Wednesday after the data analytics giant posted quarterly results and future projections that comfortably beat analyst expectations. The company reported a significant revenue jump of 35 percent year over year, reaching 1.55 billion dollars for the fiscal second quarter ending July 31. This performance was bolstered by an adjusted earnings per share of 62 cents, far exceeding the 45 cents predicted by market consensus. While the firm still recorded a net loss of roughly 191.7 million dollars, the deficit is notably narrower than the nearly 298 million dollar loss seen during the same period last year.

Much of the investor enthusiasm stems from Snowflake’s growing footprint in generative artificial intelligence. Specifically, management highlighted the rapid adoption of their CoCo AI coding agent, which grew by more than 2,000 accounts this quarter to reach a total of 9,100 users. This momentum suggests that the company is successfully pivoting toward AI integration to drive corporate efficiency and attract new clients, positioning itself as a critical player in the evolving landscape of automated software development.

Looking ahead, Snowflake has raised its financial outlook across several key metrics. For the upcoming third quarter, the company expects product revenue to hit 1.59 billion dollars, topping estimates provided by analysts via StreetAccount. On a broader scale, leadership increased its full year product revenue forecast to 6.07 billion dollars and widened its projected adjusted operating margin to 14.5 percent. These optimistic revisions signal confidence in sustained growth through the end of the fiscal year.

If these after hours gains hold steady into Thursday’s session, it would mark one of the four largest single day jumps for Snowflake since its initial public offering in 2020. Even before this latest spike, the stock had been outperforming the broader market significantly; while the S&P 500 climbed about 12 percent recently, Snowflake shareholders saw returns of approximately 39 percent leading up to Wednesday’s close. Executives are scheduled to provide further detail on these wins during a conference call later today.
